  3. Hi,
  4.  
  5. I just got the info on how to modify the Alinco DR-600.  I have
  6. activated these mods and they seem to work fine.  Here they are:

  9. Mod 1 - Activate 108 - 142 MHz and 810 - 998 MHz Receive
  10. --------------------------------------------------------

  12. Remove head unit from radio and open it up.
  13.  
  14. Inside you will see a red and blue wire.
  15.  
  16. Cut the red wire.
  17.  
  18. Open the main unit and attach a wire to CN-205.  This will be
  19. your antenna for 810-998 MHz.
  20.  
  21. Close everything up.
  22.  
  23. Reset the CPU by holding down the FUNC key while you turn the
  24. radio on.
  25.  
  26. To use:
  27. The VHF key toggles between 108-142 and 2m.  This toggle
  28. only works in VFO mode.
  29.  
  30. The UHF key toggles between 810-998 and 70cm.  This toggle
  31. only works in VFO mode.

  35. Mod 2 - Extened tx/rx on 2m and 70cm

  38. Remove head unit from radio and open it. (2 screws on back)
  39.  
  40. Inside you will see a red and a blue wire.
  41.  
  42. Cut the blue wire.
  43.  
  44. Put everything back together.
  45.  
  46. Reset the CPU by holding down the FUNC key while you turn
  47. the radio on.
  48.  
  49. You can now transmit and receive on the following freqs:
  50. 130-174MHz and 400-517MHz
  51.  
  52. Be carefull!!!!! You can now transmit outside of the HAM
  53. bands.  Don't do this!  If you do you WILL get caught and
  54. the FCC loves those $10,000 fines.
